Office
Lobby
Renovation
As part of the renewal of a design firm's lease renewal and to usher in a new chapter in the design firm's history, we are initiating an in-house design
competition for the elevator lobby space
on the 23rd floor of 100 Broadway. As the
lobby experience is the first engagement
with the office for staff and visitors, we are
seeking a redesign scheme that refreshes
and invigorates the lobby space.

The goal was to re-conceive the elevator lobby and create a dynamic, welcoming environment, which clearly identifies the arrival at an internationally-recognized engineering firm with a strong focus on integrated design.
Pixelighting the lobby looks at the specialized fields within a multi-disciplinary design firm, as well as the main inspirations for the design.
The one benefit about an installation space upon entering is that a visitor can physically see the integration between the specialized fields within the design firm. Facades (panelized skin system), Lighting (Iiluminating panels), Structures (anchoring and stabilizing the wall), and Environmental (use of recycled materials) design all play a key role in the development of the wall installation.
The wall installation is a playful gesture towards the main entry space. At the far end, the wall panel starts as a monolithic plexiglass/acrylic panel, transitions into scored panels and then starts pulling off the wall. Incorporating light, color, and creativity as you enter the office space. The panels are held off of a built out wall with metal standoffs, which allows for flexibility within the system.
The design workflow rhino/grasshopper to google spreadsheets is an integrated approach for estimating costs + quantifying the entire kit of parts throughout the design process, from conception, to pricing, through fabrication.
